LIM stands for Less Is More. Something is lim when it has the qualities of being elegant, effective, and essential. Someone who seeks and practices lim is a limist — a moniker I came up with one day in March 2008. This site is partly about sharing observations, patterns, and solutions that are lim:

elegant
Functional and aesthetically pleasing.
effective
It works very well or superbly, with high returns on invested time, energy, and resources.
essential
Worth doing, knowing, or using.

One man's lim

There's the general seeking of lim, and its particular forms. On the latter, limist.com is starting out (late 2009) as a site about what's lim with my current interests in space, time, and change:

  • The internal world of the mind and body, involving thinking on thinking ("meta-cognition"), introspection, self-knowledge generally, and mind-body connections. I am particularly interested in self-evaluation, general life challenges (self-development, health) and solutions, learning, philosophy, poetry, and mysticism.
  • The external world, including energy, education, energy education, anomalies, culture, economics and markets, entrepreneurship, history, future studies, science and technology, computing, and writing.

Do you lim?

With time and as the community of limists grows — you're out there, I reckon — the site may take on new dimensions and features, beyond the limited attention, abilities, and interests of one person. Thanks and enjoy your visit.
